January is often a time for reflection on things achieved, and maybe those we wish we had 'given a go' or tried to make time for. I moved away from making New Year's resolutions a number of years ago and found something different, which rekindled a childlike sense of discovery and playfulness …

You are creative, and you can make change.
You are creative, and you can make change.

... 64 Million Artists, and their January challenge.

    I subscribed.

A creative prompt pops into your inbox and gently encourages you to try something each day, during the month of January.

You don't need lots of professional kit or stuff - improvisation and using your surroundings are often the source of your inspiration.

I have chosen to share my poem.

Spoiler alert *This is not a natural activity for me to be drawn to!

This prompt was received on Day 3 of the month. As you can tell, I had a go on the 10th Jan, and that is ok.

    So, here goes …

    The cratered, dirty-white landscape

    Briefly thawing by day,

    Rapidly refrozen again at sunset.

The scent of washing powder against my face,

I pull my scarf tighter around my cheeks.

    Moving tentatively towards my destination,

I long for the inviting warmth inside.

If you fancy giving it a try, have a look at their website - Homepage - 64 Million Artists

'You are creative, and you can make change'

which feels like a good starting point for 2025.
